'A. Tak Crafts' - Behind The Name

There's a 25% chance you've heard how I ended up with the name A. Tak Crafts. If so, feel free to move on to the next post! If not, read on! The Adventure I was on had brought me to April and I was working on some floral items for a friend's bachelorette party. I was branding for a business, thinking about selling brooch hair combs, and didn't have a business name yet. I went though so many thoughts.

Oh, I'll make brooch hair combs! I still have some available if you're interested!

Why is naming something SO HARD?! I went through a phase of "______ & ______" that consisted of ideas like "Crystals & Chiffon" and "Crystals & Crinoline" (though most people didn't know what crinoline was - a type of fabric used for petticoats - but my mom was a big fan!). Then I went through a phase collecting words that matched my new initials. Not sure why I wanted that...I went through ideas like "A C____ T____" and the various words and options that fit in that.

Cue the husband...this handsome man on the left is Zakary A. Takacs. He grew up as "Zak A. Tak" which fit him perfectly as a quarterback and pitcher! So, as we were leading up to getting married, it was easy to know that I would be "A. Tak"! I also was never a fan of the name "Ash" thanks to Pokemon and the fact that ash is dirty. So, replacing it with A. Tak was a much better option!

 A pile of pretty.

A pile of pretty.

And back to the story...I was driving home one afternoon, with all the above beauties in my backseat, planning to make a floral crown and hair pieces for a friend's bachelorette party, and the name came to me! I was rather pleased with myself for all the pretty supplies I had found and did a little jig while I drove home, thinking "watch me craft, A. Tak crafts" Ha! The name stuck AND it ended up matching my monogram aTc! So, double win, right? But then the font search began...and man, that took forever to figure out too! Here are some incarnations before I finalized the design.

And now you know how A. Tak Crafts ended with the name! As a bonus for making it this far...my last name, Takacs...it's Hungarian. I pronounce it 'tack-us'!
